  4. Electrolysis: As the electric current flows through the workpiece, metal ions are dissolved from the high points on its surface, resulting in a more even and polished appearance.
  5. Hydrogen evolution: During the process, hydrogen gas is also generated at the workpiece surface, which can help to minimize the formation of unwanted oxides.
